About us

Heating and Cooling Work Suited to the Santa Clara Valley

ArcticPoint HVAC Repair works on heating and cooling systems in homes across San Jose and the surrounding South Bay. The Santa Clara Valley's climate shapes most of what we see. Dry summers push air conditioners hard, especially in inland and southern parts of the valley. Mild, damp winters mean heating demand is modest, but furnaces and heat pumps still need to start reliably on cold mornings. Our technicians repair and maintain central AC, gas furnaces, heat pumps and ductless mini-splits, and we install new equipment when a repair no longer makes sense. We start every visit by finding out what is actually wrong. Then we walk you through the options, including what a repair involves and when replacement is worth considering. If you're weighing a heat pump, we can explain how Bay Area Air District appliance rules affect furnace replacements and help you check current local incentives. When something fails at night or on a weekend, we offer 24/7 emergency service.

What to expect

How a visit goes

  1. Diagnosis Before Recommendations

We find the cause of the problem first. You'll know whether you're looking at a simple fix, a larger repair or a system near the end of its life before we suggest anything.

  2. Clear Options, Explained Plainly

When there's more than one reasonable path, such as repairing a furnace or switching to a heat pump, we lay out the trade-offs so you can decide what fits your home and budget.

  3. Accurate Information on Rules and Incentives

Air District rules and rebate programs change. We confirm the current requirements and incentive offers before we discuss them, so you're planning with up-to-date information.

FAQ

Common questions

Do Bay Area rules require me to replace my working gas furnace?

No. The Bay Area Air District appliance rules do not require you to replace working equipment. They apply only when an existing furnace fails or is replaced. You can keep repairing and maintaining the furnace you have.

What changes for gas furnaces in 2029?

Under Air District Rule 9-4, natural gas furnaces manufactured from 2029 must meet a zero-NOx emission standard. In practice, that points homeowners toward heat pumps when a furnace is replaced after that date. If your furnace is aging, it's worth thinking ahead about which direction you want to go.

Can I still get the federal tax credit for a heat pump?

No. The federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (25C) covered qualifying heat pumps placed in service before December 31, 2025. It is not available for new installations after that date.

Are there local incentives for heat pumps in the Bay Area?

Bay Area homeowners can check BayREN and their local clean energy provider for current heat pump and electrification incentives. Amounts and availability change by funding cycle, so we confirm the current offer before including it in a quote.

Does a heat pump make sense in San Jose's climate?

For many homes, yes. The Santa Clara Valley has dry summers and mild, damp winters, so a heat pump can handle both cooling and heating in one system. We'll look at your home, your ductwork and your current equipment before recommending one.

When is a ductless mini-split a good fit?

Mini-splits work well for rooms or additions without ductwork, converted garages, or spaces that run hotter or colder than the rest of the house. They can also be an option for homes where adding ducts would be difficult.

How often should I schedule HVAC maintenance?

Many homeowners schedule a check once a year, with AC service before summer and heating service before winter. Homes with a heat pump use one system year-round, so regular maintenance matters even more.

Do you offer emergency HVAC service?

Yes. We offer 24/7 emergency service for heating and cooling problems that can't wait, like a failed AC during a summer heat spell or no heat on a cold night.

Need Heating or Cooling Help?

Tell us what's going on with your system, and we'll schedule a visit to diagnose the problem and walk you through your options. For breakdowns that can't wait, we offer 24/7 emergency service.
